I presume she was trying to type her name.

This bit appears to be encoded, though; unfortunately, I don't have her public key here:

When I got home this evening, I sat her in front of MS Word with 72-point Arial Bold, magnified 200%, with Caps Lock on (since I think she only recognises capital letters so far), and asked her to press a couple of keys.

She was a bit unsure at first (perhaps because we usually get annoyed when she presses stuff on the keyboard!), but quickly became more confident. She even managed to get individual letters after a short while, after she had learned to let go of the key before it autorepeats.

She had lots of fun typing a letter and seeing it appear on-screen. She seemed to like Ö the most, for some reason. (She thinks it's an O, though.)

Another funny thing was that occasionally, she'd hit the "menu" key (between right Ctrl and right Windows key), which would pop up a context menu saying, among other things, "Übersetzen" ... I wonder whether I could have used that to translate her "writings" into something we could understand :D

That's honestly amazing, and truly interesting to see how she can grow up, literally, with technology. As a self-respecting geek, you do teach your daughter well ;)

That's a great idea! I wonder how long it takes until she is able to read and write - it sounds as if you are bringing up quite a clever little girl.
