That was the impression I got as well -- many enthusiasts about Klingon culture, some of whom are interested in the language, too, but few of whom actually learn enough to carry on a conversation. (Though my sample size was, admittedly, small.)

I say the samples you got were as interested in Klingon as it gets in this club. They all SAY they want to learn Klingon, but when they notice it's a real language and not some kind of trick they don't want to put any effort into it.
