PSA: Account purges, Permanent Account Sale

A whole bunch of accounts that were deleted in the past two years were recently purged (including marikochan, one of the very first accounts I friended *snif*). This means, among other things, that it is now possible to rename your journal to one of those names.

Also, there'll be a Permanent Account Sale on sometime in June: for the low, low price of US$ 150, you can have a Permanent Account. Or two or three, if that's your thing. (Disclaimer: price may not actually be low, depending on your disposable income.)

Man, every time I see the Permanent accounts go on sale, I get all sad because I want one soo badly. I've kept my account at Paid status for about two/three years...at $5 for two months (which is wehat I often do), I could have had one! :O

That's basically what I had thought last time they were on sale, too -- I had been keeping my account Paid nearly all the time since I had created it, and I figured I'd keep using LiveJournal for at least three years or so, and then account payments + extra userpic space would make the Perm. Account worthwhile.

Even more so at $100 (which is what they cost at the last sale before the one where I bought mine), but even so, I decided to go for one. (I did vascillate for a week or so, due to the higher price.)

...it did help that I had recently got a bunch of extra spending money from (I think) our tax return. Otherwise I wouldn't have easily been able to afford that much money at one go.

Oh, and you could ask around - perhaps someone loves you enough to gift you one! (I know that sort of thing happened the last time around: some people bought paid accounts for others.)

(Realistically speaking, I don't know anyone who'd have the spare cash and the inclination to have bought me one; I imagine it's the same for you.)

I'd ask, but I'm pretty sure nobody loves me enough to drop $150. ;) I mean, I've gotten things gifted to me on Livejournal a few times before (as I recall, you've donated paid time a couple of times, which I definitely appreciate! I hate when my paid account lapses), but $150 is a whole new ballpark. :P Perhaps I should just start putting aside $10/month now, and by the next sale, I'll be able to afford one!
