I was thinking about how the stress determines the parsing in "Christopher Street Day".

I think I've come up with the following possibilities (comma marks secondary stress, apostrophe marks primary stress, no mark means lesser or no stress):

  • 'Christopher Street ,Day = a day connected to a road named Christopher Street
  • ,Christopher 'Street Day = a street day (whatever that is) connected to someone named Christopher
  • ,Christopher 'Street ,Day = a day connected to someone named Christopher (given name) Street (family name)
  • ,Christopher Street 'Day = a person named Christopher (given name) Street (second given name) Day (family name)

Confusingly enough, I think this is what I usually hear even though it is a day connected to a road named Christopher Street.
