It's not .yu, it's .me! But ICANN change!
Wednesday, 23 April 2008 23:52I find it slightly amusing that for people in Montenegro, their domain names are no longer about .yu but are now all about .me.

Date: Thursday, 24 April 2008 04:33 (UTC)I found out about the whole thing when I renewed a .org domain of mine and saw a news item from my registrar telling me that .me domains would be available soon and pointing to http://www.domain.me/ - which looks as flashy and marketing-y and oriented to English-speaking people as, say, .md "for doctors" or .tv/.fm/.am "for broadcasting companies". (I think .la tried to market itself to people from California but weren't that successful in the end.)

Ah, thanks. That sounds pretty definite.

*nods* Perhaps they might have used that if .sr hadn't already been taken for Suriname.
They did use .hr for Hrvatska, after all.
...And interesting; Serbia and Montenegro briefly (2003–2006) had the ISO code CS (which had belonged to Czechoslovakia in the past); I had forgotten that one.
