In other news, we finished our taxes last night, but I was too tired this morning to drop them off at the IRS.

In other other news, Amy asked where my mother is, and wasn't satisfied with, "She's gone". How do you explain death to a three-year-old? I gave it a try, at any rate. Stella ventured, "She's back with Father in Heaven", though I'm not sure how theologically accurate that is (I suppose it depends on most on when Judgment Day is for specific people, i.e. whether she'd still be in spirit world or not).

I'm sure there are plenty of children's books, both religious and secular, that attempt to explain death and dying to young children of various ages. If she's not satisfied with your explanation...

When I carelessly mentioned my grandfather to Ana once, and she asked why she never met him, I stumbled a bit over an answer until my mother (and we're not religious, of course) came out with "He's where we can talk about him, but we can't see him or talk with him anymore", which is definitely true no matter how you look at it.

Have you recently had a fish die? Like, a pet fish :S You could always say she's with the fish (or other dead pet).
Amy sounds so adorable.

I think my parents just called death by its name and warned about certain things like fly agarics, electricity, being run over by a car etc. by saying that they can kill you. If I remember correctly I never had big trouble grasping the concept. Doesn't the concept of death appear in a lot of fairy tales for example?

Then again my parents didn't have to care about giving what you call a theologically accurate answer.
