Microsoft to implement ODF (but not OOXML!) export in Office

According to this article on heise news (in German), Microsoft will provide the ability the export documents to ODF 1.1, PDF, and XPS in an upcoming service pack for MS Office in 2009.

Export to OOXML won't come before Office 14, though, which is not expected before 2010.

This amuses me slightly. If not even Microsoft can implement OOXML, if they find it easier (or simply better) to implement ODF instead, what does that say for OOXML?
