Hm, my computer just downloaded Vista SP1.

Now the big question is, to install or not to install?

My last SP installation (from XP SP 1 to SP 2) was rather traumatic for me since a fair number of things broke, and I had heard bad things about Vista SP1 earlier.

At any rate, I should probably take the opportunity to do a backup first.

XP SP2 has never caused problems for me. My computer runs great! Now, you won't get me to install Vista...unless it starts being required to run things when XP becomes obsolete.

Maybe will be "lucky" - I've tried numerous times, and I can't get that thing to install at all. I have googled extensively, tried every troubleshooting step I found (including those that made me do things I didn't really understand), and nothing. It's always some error message or other that doesn't tell me a thing.
