Bizarre... subjects of entries (if present) appear to be links to the entries.

I can't remember that this used to be the case in the past... and I'm using a custom (S1) friends page style, so I wonder why that would have changed.

(Unless they changed the meaning of whatever %%variable%% I stuck into the template at that point, to include HTML for a link?)

I guess one reason is that there is otherwise no way to link to a post, especially if it doesn't have comments ye (or especially if they're switched off). I used to hate it when people linked to a post with ?mode=reply in the end.

Ah - it would help with entries that have comments switched off.

S2 might be a different thing, but in S1, you can only add links to an entry if comments are enabled. (So I see a "read comments" link to the entry in my style even if there are no comments yet, but no links at all if the comments are disabled -- rather annoying sometimes!)

And having looked in [livejournal.com profile] lj_releases, I now know this behaviour of entry subjects is a recent change.

For some reason, all the links on my friends page were black on a black background, until I switched off the "Use friend colors on friends page" option. Now it's a bit uglier, but at least I can read them.

It's talked about in the news or release post

For me, the date links to the entry whether there are comments or not. I suppose I'm using S2, but I don't recall. I never worried much about it.
