Me too! I saw your earlier post about the community and decided that I wanted to join, too!

I'm totally excited! Now - German snacks. What exactly ARE German snacks?

I wondered about that, too.

I think European snacks might be a more useful category, perhaps. Judging from past swaps, Kinder things (Kinder eggs, Kinder chocolate/bueno/happy hippo/...) and Nutella seem fairly popular.

I've also seen Werther's Originals a couple of times, I think. The various Ferrero offerings (duplo, hanuta, Rocher, ...) may also be unknown in the US.

What about German manufacturers such as Haribo, Katjes, Bahlsen and Ritter Sport? Are they of any interest to non-Europeans? To a certain extent they are present in other countries too, of course, but not in the same range as here.

Ooh, excellent suggestion - thanks!

I can imagine they might well be of interest to Americans.

And then there is also Storck which produces things in Germany that are not available in the US.

I see you're a member already -- so have a look at http://community.livejournal.com/we_swap_snacks/58638.html and perhaps set up a private swap with someone? (Either responding to an offer or making one of your own.)

Or wait for swap #5 :)

Das, was ich bekomme, werde ich wohl in [livejournal.com profile] we_swap_snacks posten, aber ich kann hier einen Link auf den Eintrag posten! Und Fotos von dem, was ich abschicke, kann ich auch posten.
