Has anyone just lost The Game?
Thursday, 14 May 2009 10:31Occasionally, I see people mention that they just lost The Game.
These always amuse me, since I've never considered playing. But some other people seem to take it fairly seriously.
I suppose it's schadenfreude, really, because I imagine that to them, it's not a joke. But still. I find it funny when someone, through a public announcement that they have lost The Game, cause other people to lose, too, and declaim so publicly.
(Am I being too callous? I suppose I really don't know how seriously people take it, or what emotions surround losing.)

Date: Thursday, 14 May 2009 13:12 (UTC)Well... one of the tenets of The Game is that everyone is playing The Game (or, at any rate, everyone who knows of The Game), so nobody minds if someone else joins.
But ignorance may be bliss. I can't imagine taking The Game seriously, myself, but I suppose it has a certain appeal.

Though I've heard of versions where you have immunity for a while after you've lost the game so you can't immediately lose again.
I think part of the fun might be making other people lose due to posting about your loss :)
