Random memory: alt.pub.dragons-inn

I remember a Usenet newsgroup called alt.pub.dragons-inn that served as a place for collaborative fiction in a fantasy setting.

I googled a bit and apparently it was most active in the 90’s.

I posted a bit in it in, roughly, the 2001–2004 timeframe (as far as I can judge from a Google Groups search); however, the place was fairly inactive and the story lines usually didn’t exceed half a dozen posts.

The most frequent contributer in that time was “Emerald”, though a cat named “Pangur Ban” also showed up a bit.

Ahh.. back in the good old newsgroup days. I recall the adventures of Sam (the less than talented Thief), and Nutsy (the less than likeable halfling). I was googling to see if any of it remained in ether, and came across your posting. I was active at the start, then moved on to families and work. Though I did think my kids would enjoy the stories if I can find them again.

It would be a pity if it were forgotten completely!

Google Groups should hopefully let you dredge up some old posts, and I wouldn’t be surprised if individual members hadn’t archived specific storylines somewhere.

I’ve never really looked, though, since I wasn’t part of the group when it was active.
