Today at church I watched a young woman breastfeed her young son. (Well, maybe "watched" gives the wrong impression; I noticed that she did so.) And I think it's a good idea.

I think breastfeeding is good for children and that women who choose to do so are doing them good. And that it's OK to do so even in a semi-public place since, with practice, you can do so without exposing yourself to other people. Also less disruptive (and probably more convenient) than having to leave and look for a private place.

Sonja gave me a late birthday present. I think it's a Calvin and Hobbes comic, but I haven't opened it yet.

Often, my Sunday afternoons consist mostly of sitting at the computer: surfing the Internet, reading news or e-mail.

But today, I got bored after a couple of hours. It was a strange feeling. I reloaded my friends list a couple of times but then felt that there wasn't much more I could do there. (The fact that I no longer read Usenet and have the Conlang mailing list set to NOMAIL also help, since those two things used to suck up quite a bit of time.)

Instead, I went ahead and read the Calvin and Hobbes book I got from Sonja today. It's There's Treasure Everywhere and it was pretty good. Especially towards the end there were a couple of strips that had me laughing.

And I go over to hug Stella every now and then. And now I'm reading documentation for NASM, which was in a random binder I pulled off my shelf. Bizarre.

Hope all of you are having a nice day :)

While browing http://www.adherents.com/, I found the following bit in their FAQ, as part of a message from a reader (described as "typical of many we have received from Baptists"):

And why isn't Baptists included in the Christian statistic or why isn't it mentioned? We are the only true Christians living on the face of the earth. You see Jesus Christ was a Baptist, He was baptized by John the Baptist not John The Methodist or John the Catholic.

For some reason, this made me think of the people who say "if English was good enough for Jesus in the Bible, it's good enough for me" or who believe that the King James Version (aka Authorised Version) records the words as literally spoken by Jesus.

And it made me a little sad to read such (IMAO) simple logic spouted forth.
