I thought giving up snacks was hard, but tonight I met a sister missionary who has given up chocolate—for ever.

As I understand it, she was working with an inactive (PC-speak: "less active") member who wanted to come back to church, but she smoked and didn't want to go there with clothes smelling of smoke. So the sister suggested that she'd give up something she liked a lot if the member would give up smoking, and chose chocolate.

Exactly. Giving up and addiction must be hard at the best of times, but when you're not the one who has the addiction, yet you're giving up something like that. wow

And I got the impression that they were friends, but not that good a friends, yet she's still that willing to show her support and be there for her.
