In an entry in [livejournal.com profile] mock_the_stupid, I found this comment:

I had a Catholic latin teacher and her attitude to sex was that you should wait until you're married. However, if you don't then this is what you need to know. It was the most sensible perspective I've ever heard.

I think I like the way that was phrased and it sounds like a viewpoint I could hold.

So, instead you're going to teach them sex outside of marriage is wrong even if your parents say it isn't?

I'm all in favor of teaching actual facts. Tell them that many people believe sex outside of marriage is wrong if you want. Tell them that not having sex significantly reduces (but does not eliminate) your chances of having STDs or an unwanted pregnancy. Tell them that if they do have sex there are options that decrease, but do not eliminate the chances of STDs and unwanted pregnancies, but they have to be used correctly or they do not decrease your risks by much. Teach them fscts. I like that. I'd rather they not try to teach morals in school at all.
