D'oh! I messed up on the "number of days in a month". Please ignore that question and use this poll instead. (You'll probably have to use your "Back" button afterwards to get back to this entry, since the extra poll will take you to a dummy entry after submission.)

you didn't have an option for 44 letters in the alphabet, so I just averaged them (26+44+30+31)/4

thanks for pointing me to the poll, my reading of my friends page is a bit sporadic these days.

also, it's interesting the results about 24 vs 12 hour clocks. i hadn't thought about it, but you just don't say "három negyed tizennyolc múlt öt perccel" (even though that is a precise time: 3/4 18 has passed with 5 minutes: 17:50), it is either "tizenhét óra ötven perckor" (seventeen hours fifty minutes o'clock) or "három negyed hat múlt öt perccel" (3/4 6 passed 5 minutes).

interesting :) i wonder if Hungarian started using this way of telling time when we were part of the Hapsburg empire.

i've lost my german, but i seem to have retained my numbers well enough to understand before reading the translation, yay. though i do thank you for the translation too :)

In that order :)

Hungarian, 44: a á b c cs d dz dzs e é f g gy h i í j k l ly m n ny o ó ö ő p q r s sz t ty u ú ü ű v w x y z zs -- though q, w, x, and y by itself aren't used except in some foreign words or in the case of y in some older spellings, so Hungary has either 40 or 44 letters, depending on how you count it.

Serbian and Macedonian have the same letters, but Macedonian has an additional letter ѕ (pronounced "dz"), also, Macedonian pronounces a couple letters differently so they write them differently as well, ќ = ћ and ѓ = ђ =macedonian letter first, serbian second). ќ is pronounced kind of like kj the "c" in "cute", and ѓ is like gj, the voiced equivalent.

I changed my vote on the number of continents because I totally forgot to count Australia when I was counting them in my head the first time. :x
